What is SEVIS?

You may occasionally hear OISS employees refer to SEVIS. This is a website OISS is required by law to use in order to communicate with the Department of Homeland Security.

What does it do?

SEVIS tracks basic information such as your program start and end dates, and your ports of entry and departure to and from the United States.

We also use SEVIS to print forms I-20 and DS-2019, as well as register transfers to and from other institutions.

What do I need to know about it?

You must pay an I-901 SEVIS fee ($350) before your initial visa interview appointment. You can pay this fee here.

After that, SEVIS is a tool we use to make sure your information is accurate. If you discover that information on your I-20 is out-of-date, please contact OISS to change your SEVIS record and print a new I-20.
