Rebecca serves as Senior Director of Global Engagement, responsible for the Office of Study Away. She began her work at Trinity in February 2023. She holds a Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University’s School of Architecture, Art & Planning. She obtained her M.A. in Education from San Francisco State University and her B.A. in Philosophy from Youngstown State University in Ohio. Her research and publications connect the fields of critical pedagogy, international higher education, and global knowledge communities. She has travelled extensively throughout her career and personal life, including living briefly in Mexico while conducting her doctoral research. On a personal level, she enjoys gardening, hiking, camping, and cooking. She is currently interested in exploring the ecological impact of large-scale hydropower in relation to the global climate crisis, particularly as manifested in binational hydroelectric agreements between Quebec and her home state of Vermont.

Jessica is ecstatic to be part of the Trinity Study Away team as Associate Director for Global Engagement. She holds a Master of Arts in International Education from the School for International Training and is deeply passionate about intercultural exploration and personal development. No stranger to studying abroad, Jessica spent a semester in Australia and three months in Spain. One of her most enriching and rewarding experiences was studying in Ukraine, where she immersed herself in learning the Ukrainian language and culture while studying and connecting with her family in Western Ukraine. In her role at the Study Away Office, Jessica focuses on enhancing student advising strategies and fostering global engagement and collaboration across campus. She is excited to bring her experience in career development, international education exchange management, and enrollment to support Trinity study away students. She encourages students, faculty, and staff to connect with her to discuss global engagement or share travel stories!

Fun Facts: Jessica enjoys adventuring with her son, Jakob. She loves icebreakers, tea, coffee, and vintage or second-hand shopping. She will most likely be interested in discussing any self-help book you recommend.

One of her favorite travel memories includes a thrilling 17-day RV trip across New Zealand’s South Island where she explored the outdoors with friends through glacier hiking, spelunking, and skydiving.

Lindsay Oliver – Senior Study Away Adviser

Lindsay Oliver joined the Office of Study Away in 2016 as a Study Away Adviser, bring with her years of experience in study abroad. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Regional Geography along with a minor in Anthropology from Central Connecticut State University, while also studying abroad five times. Lindsay’s love of travel and culture began very young and as an adult has turned her passion into her career. Lindsay has lived abroad several times. First, in Salamanca, Spain where she was fully immersed in an intensive Spanish language program. Lindsay has also lived in London, England, which has become her home away from home. Her most memorable travel experiences have been a solo trip through Australia, backpacking across Eastern Europe and exploring the culturally rich city of Istanbul.

Fun Facts: Lindsay has traveled to 25 countries and counting, she is an avid reader, regularly attends concerts and music festivals, is a lifelong yogi & a huge soccer fan (Go Manchester City & FC Barcelona!)

Cecilia Davila – Study Away Adviser

Cecilia Davila joined the Office of Study Away in the summer of 2023. She was previously a Spanish teacher and developed her love for new cultures and languages while studying abroad in Granada, Spain. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Delaware and a Master’s in Education from the University of Connecticut. While Cecilia was studying abroad in Spain she traveled to nine different European countries and has also traveled to several different countries in Latin America on her own time. Her most memorable travel experiences have been a group trip to Algarve, Portugal’s most southern region, a family trip to Costa Rica and exploring the vibrant city of Cartagena, Colombia.

Fun Facts: Cecilia has studied abroad in Spain twice, she loves fashion and styling, and she plans to travel to Italy, Greece and Croatia very soon. She can’t wait to check off more countries that have been on her bucket list!
